More than six months after a single post on Mastodon, quite a few users have been using and enjoying Readeck daily. Enven though I don't collect any usage metrics, I can tell that a user community is growing.
You created issues, which helps a lot with priorities, submitted code patches and translations. I'm honestly very surprised that there are already 6 new translations. For all these, small or big, contributions, thank you!
Say Hi to Readeck Community!
Now, a growing community needs a bit more than just a code repository and a Mastodon account to interact with. Some issues on Codeberg turned into whole conversations which makes it quite hard to prioritize tasks.
Of course, it's nobody's fault, for users will naturally use the limited tools at hand to get their questions or message across.
As of today, Readeck Community aims to provide a place where users can help one another, propose ideas, submit content scripts, etc. You can log in with a Github account or register directly.
Readeck's Matrix Room
Since last release, I announced that a Matrix room was available, if you prefer live discussions. You'll find it on https://matrix.to/#/#readeck:matrix.org.
Translate Readeck with Codeberg Translations
My biggest surprise with translations is that contributors found their way without any documentation and submitted pull requests after translating Readeck in their own language.
To help with translation efforts, I set up a projet on Codeberg Translate. It provides a Weblate instance and if you're familiar with it, you can start translating in no time.
Should you be interested in translating Readeck, you can head to the Contribution Page for guidance with the application and its documentation translation process.
Release Mirror
Last month a user reported that their ISP had blocked Codeberg resulting to not being able to download any release file, containers or even clone the code.
As a consequence, there's now a mirror on this server. The code is synced with the upstream repository every 30 minutes and releases and containers are pushed on each release.
Contribution Guide
As mentioned earlier, there's now a Contribution Guide to help with ways to contribute to Readeck.
Thank you!
Thank you for your enthusiasm using Readeck and your already excellent contributions. Let's build a great community together!
